Change the game.

In a changing sheep industry, what can you do to increase profitability?

Highly productive, profit-generating sheep enterprises rely on multiple revenue streams, such as lamb sales, wool sales and surplus breeder ewe lamb and ewe sales. Maximising each of these elements in the one genetic package allows sheep producers to increase profitability without increased effort.

The Redbank FX breeding program is packaging the best of composite maternal sheep production, with finer wools and better wool quality. With this combination, producers can increase their marketing options for their sheep. Such as:

1)  Prime lamb sales (fast growth and high muscling allows lambs to be sold prime as suckers or off feeders).

2) Surplus ewe lambs (empty or scanned in lamb) -  sell what you dont need as future breeders to other producers at a premium over processor prices.

3) Surplus older ewes (empty or scanned in lamb) - with large numbers of replacement ewe lambs coming through, sell older ewes whilst they still have a few years breeding in them and acheive a premium over mutton prices.

At Redbank FX Rams we aim to deliver new genetics in a robust package. Our rams must produce progeny that survive and thrive in a range of enviroments, produce 21-23 micron wool with good style, can join out of season, grow fast and mature early, and reach a range of target carcase weights with good carase traits and eating quality.

Wool Quality

Increase wool revenue is the key to increase profitability. No need to compromise on stocking rate, reproduction or carcase quality. It's not quite AAAM, but can get pretty close to it. Finer micron, good colour, more nousishment and better style than other crossbred or composite sheep. It means extra money in the bank, with no additional costs.

Growth and Carcase

The image above is a twin born ram lamb out of a ewe lamb weighing 61kg at 6 months. These genetics allow fast growth, with high muscle and good fat cover. We use genomics to ensure IMF and carcase traits will be well suited to future markets. This high growth and early maturity also contributes to being able to successfully join ewe lambs to increase productivity.

Reproduction

Lambs on the ground, that's the goal. But it requires having ewes in good condition at joining, good ram performance, ability to maintain weight over pregnancy, lamb without assistance and raise multiple lambs whilst putitng condition back on for next joining. Not an easy task, but Redbank FX ewes go through a 6 month drought every year and still perform.
